But I recall having seen a "T4 PL" printed on what looks like a PL tube, (connections on one end only). Maybe I saw wrongly...![]()

T4 is a straight FL tube. Not a common size.
As Vinz has said T-4 is refered to FL tube with 4/8" (0.5in) diameter.
(T-n refers to FL tubes with n/8" in diameter.)
Sometimes there is reference to a T-4 base. This usually means a screw-thread base with 0.5in diameter.
