Very hard for a non air pumped and filter to have lifestock unless you small tank Is allowed to have light then you can put plants for source of oxygen but still not so good.betta better
Hi all
I would like to start a small tank measuring 30cm x 15cm x 15cm (h) on the office desk. There won't be any air pump or filter allow. Just tank, stones and water (no plant).
what are the low bio load and low maintenance fishes to recommend beside bettas. Prefer to keep at least 3-5 of them so that they won't be gasping for air. What would you keep and how often should I change water in this case?
Hope to hear and learn from the experienced aqua experts.

If you have no pump nor filter, I suggest you keep croaking gourami or Betta. Because other fishes will die in such conditions without some form of filtration. The biggest risk of doing such a tank without plants to act as natural filters is ammonia buildup. Plus, daily changing of water will be a requirement. I think it's best you don't make such a tank because even bettas will be stressed in such conditions.
Fish.. Simply Irresistable
Back to Killies... slowly.
Anubias should be fine in those conditions, as well as Java Fern. You can probably keep 2-3 croaking gourami in there but do take note that they are still territorial. Perhaps you can consider a dwarf gourami - Trichogaster lalius (ex Colisa lalia). A single one will do okay in a tank of that size.

I agree with Stormhawk that it is good to keep just one single fish in that tank.
Firstly, it will enjoy the 'shoebox' space. Secondly, if the tank conditions become bad, at least you will just have one sick fish to feel sad for.![]()
LIFE IS UNBEARABLE WITHOUT A FISH TANK!!!
Guppies , Definitely !!1
may be can throw in some aquatic plants inside...
