Darylyap, do consider consolidating your posts into one. quite hard to reply.

there's nothing much to update actually, unless you want me post day to day pictures.. cos frankly.. they dont grow fast cos the water temp is like 31C..
i'm using ISTA, cheapo co2 tablets. i just put one tablet in half hour before lights go on.

somehow, no bubbles from the plants cos flowrate quite strong, but got bubbles from the rocks... hmmm..

    DIY!!!

Agree. Haha. CO2 DIY easy to make. Depending on your "recipe" should last 3-4 weeks. I'm using it right now. Plus pressurised CO2 plus Excel. =P I'm nuts. Hey, plants growing. So what the heck. Base on Shadow's blog, the data he provided, I think by third week should change. Though it's alcohol, don't drink it.

CO2 tablets? gulp. I am one of those who used to use it. Use the money to make CO2 DIY better.

You drink coffee with Felix? More poison!!

I will sms you later. Been really busy at work.
100 for $6? Sounds so much like Bo chai pills

Leave it low to mid tech will do. Let the plants slowly grow. Co2 if coupled with stronger lights then will be worth to use.
But oh yeah, fast growth mean more work to trim.

I don't think the CO2 tablet will be much of help. Go for DIY c02 bro . Now my hand also very itchy to rescape my tank ah.

mine's working with CO2 tablets! but dont even know if it's taking effect, or whether it'll have the same growth rate as DIY CO2. maybe i shall use a small container with a standard bubble counter.. DUE TO AESTETIC reasons again. it's in my living room beside the TV.. unless i'm gonna DIY a cabinet to put all the aquarium barang inside it..

oh well. $6 for 100, it's the cheapest i can find. since i've bought it, just use finish it first then see how. hmm $6 of DIY CO2.. i havent tried DIY before, been going high tech all the while. this is my first normal tech tank!

Seems to be working now.. maybe would just use it first since i already bought it. else... DOUBLE DOSE OF CO2. or even triple, together with excel!
gogogo, rescape your tank and share the pictures! cant wait!

ANYWAY, (not anw), since Daryl request for more pictures, here they are.

Can see the roots pulling the APP to the soil. Maybe should consider doing a timelapse, and the plants will come alive!

Tank shot taken just only (6th June, 6th Day)

Please comment! anyway, i dont have any fishes for cycling.. maybe can go buy some feeder fishes.. but dont think my iQ5 can fit them all.. Maybe one more week before i throw the fishes in there. dont want them to disturb my Ah Peks.

not so much of a cloudy issue, but flaky issue, where flake from the tablet will be left flying around the tank.
i do not have such an issue as i place my tablet in the ios filter. so i get the co2 into the water, while my filter gets the flakes.

I'm considering a fan to lower the temperature. but then, lower temperature, means that the Ah Peks will grow faster right? correct me if i'm wrong. i have to lower the temp anyway, else my shrimps in future will get cooked!

    Day 9

water getting cloudy after 1 week of co2 tablets.
should i continue using it, until before i put in the fauna?
or i should just change totally to gaseous CO2?

Can't comment much on the CO2 tablet. I still have 95% left which I bought last year. You can have it if you want. It's from Seaview. I stop using it after a week as you guys mentioned it got flaky and all. If DIY Co2 is not troublesome to you, you should consider that. I can't comment whether the tablet has any affect or not. Using diy co2 or pressurised is so much better. Can't go without it for me.

Excel is good for up to 2ft only. do take note its not a substitute for CO2. Its harder for plants to take in excel than CO2

Argh, i bought the yeast at 3pm. And so i was wondering.. how long will it take for me to finish 50g of yeast? I've done up my DIY co2 already, but it seems to be leaking..

You're using so little? if you have no fauna in these, my take is to dump more co2, lest algae starts to thrive.. i put 1 to 2 tablets in the morning before lights on, and another 1 to 2 in the evening, before lights on for a second round..

Bro, if you need a tight seal, you need to use silicon. Here's my small DIY CO2. I used a drill bit one size smaller than the diameter of the air tube and made a hole on the cap. Then i carefully stuffed the tube into the hole.

    IMG182.jpg

IMO the bottle size doesnt matter to me since the cap can also fit a 1.5L

that's the plan only, will tweak on the fly. maybe will plant glosso instead of ET.
maybe glosso needs high co2. will see how it goes.

    thanks for the headsup.

Well, i guess its successful on my second attempt at DIY CO2.
Did not use any silicon, just drilled a 4mm hole and pull the tubing through..

    2 cups of sugar
    1 tablespoon of baking power
    1/4 table spoon of yeast

Bubbling at slightly less than 1BPS, sufficient for a pico tank i suppose?

    I'm using the VitaminWater bottle..
Used a bottle with a large mouth so that i can fill it easier

I'm having some plans for a CO2 "reservoir" actually.. will do it tonight and post some pictures.
I'm searching for a balloon though.
Anyone got a good quality balloon to spare?
Just need one of those, so thats why i'm not buying one whoe packet of it..
