Still thinking of what filtration to use. HMF method or just straight up Xy sponge filter.

Substrate wise, will be using black quartz and ADA substrates.

More pictures coming up after I get all the other equipments!

    Stay tuned!

I already have a pair of Apisto. Borelli in another tank.

As for the residents of the tanks, I'm still open for ideas, not really too sure of what to keep! As long as its from the Apistogramma family, I'm happy!

These are some of the equipments I got a few hours ago. Decided to go with HMF method for filtration.

Lighting wise, still can't figure out whether to go with LED or the usuals.

I will still be sourcing for nice woods and caves for my future residents.

Thanks to those kind AQ members who are willing to meet up earlier at such short notice!

    Stay tuned!

    Misery.

    Re: Apistogramma Project.

1 HMF per partition will be good since there is no way for the flow of the water from one partition to go to the next and so on unless it goes via the bottom space underneath each partition. IMO, in such tanks perhaps using UGF plates underneath the slits (if they can fit) in tandem with those Xy sponge filters might be good. Of course with UGF you should only use the black quartz as a substrate. Though for ease of maintenance etc, perhaps just Xy sponge filters will be good in combo with the HMFs to the rear of each partition.

You might have to add in some airstones etc for better water circulation just in case.

@stormhawk thank you for your valuable advise. Will sure to take note for the additional air stone and water circulation.

    @anarchy78,

Hey, maybe this link might help you with your queries. Not a pro at this, first time using this method.

    Nice setup!
It might have been better to have 4 totally separate partitions as you run the risk of disease spreading through all four tanks at the same time. Also apistos do dig a little so you might want to put some kind of mesh.

    Re: Apistogramma Project.

Any signs of injury or sunken stomach? Maybe stressed out from having the male chase her. Males can be aggressive outside breeding periods. Java ferns can help reduce the line of sight in the tank.

no signs of sunken belly.. perhaps my male stressed her out. I guess I have to add more ferns and hiding areas for them in a smaller tank.

for some reason, i find guppies to be very poor tank cyclers because they die so easily. hahaha. usually i use betta or barbs.

    Looking good!

On a side note i do not think guppies are good cycling fishes. Moreover your tank PH should dive to 6 range. whereas guppies prefer 7.5PH range. Just place a unwashed filter wool into the tank and use "water changed" water from your other tanks. that should do a good job

    Enjoy

I will be looking for tank resident soon.
Feel free to let me know if there's anyone who wanna let go a sub adult or ready to mate adults.
