Ill go with Option A
I saw in several posts of the placement of media in multiple tray external canister filter. Which is the correct placement for the media?? (Assuming 3 trays)
From the manual that come with the Canister, it is usually from top down (A) .
However, i do see many hobbyist suggested using (B).
Which is better?? Any different.
A)Bottom tray- Ceramic Rings
Centre tray -biohome etc..
Top tray -Filter wool/Jap mat
B)
Bottom tray-Filter wool/Jap Mat
Centre tray - Ceramic Rings

Ill go with Option A
it filters from top down for a standard canister filter. so you would want:
top: fine filter pad
2nd: med filter pad
3rd corse filter pad
4th: biohome
5th: CR
would nt be advisable to do it the toher way round using your CR to filter first as
1: they are not good as mechanical filters
2: dirt gets trapped easily in them.
The filter would be the one that you will wash or change most frequently.
So the filter wool would be at the most easily accessible layer (usually the topmost). The bio media would be before the filter wool and the mechanical media would be before the bio media. One of the purpose of mechanical media is to disperse or evenly distribute the water flow over the bio media.

my canister contain
#1 dacron/spons mat
#2 bio ceramic ring
#3 gromax.
i prefer dacron at the 1st layer to make easy when i want to remove it..
anything would happen.
just make it easy...
