    Hi,

If so which brand should I go for? Eheim or Fluval?

    My tank is 50cm X 33cm X 34cm. 55L of water. Water temp is 30C.

Thanks alot for ur help. =)

It is better to be safe than sorry. Hence it is better if you can include a heater for your goldfish.

    Re: Do I need heater?

gold fish need heater??? i never use heater when i keep goldfish... our weather is hot enough for them... unless you are keeping them in COLD countries........

    From Wikipedia

The goldfish is classified as a coldwater fish, and can live in unheated aquaria at a temperature comfortable for humans. However, rapid changes in temperature (for example in an office building in winter when the heat is turned off at night) can kill them, especially if the tank is small. Care must also be taken when adding water, as the new water may be of a different temperature. Temperatures under about 10 °C (50 °F) are dangerous to fancy varieties, though commons and comets can survive slightly lower temperatures. Extremely high temperatures (over 30 °C (86 °F) can also harm goldfish. However, higher temperatures may help fight protozoan infestations by accelerating the parasite's life-cycle—thus eliminating it more quickly. The optimum temperature for goldfish is between 20 °C (68 °F) and 22 °C (72 °F).

i using heater for accelerate the parasite life cycle and I aware that higher temp can harm goldfish. But I not sure what is the correct temp to set and not sure which brand to get.

    Re: Do I need heater?

Bro, don't fix as it not broken. There is no need to be paranoid while there is nothing wrong currently. Did you find any parasite in the frst place? 30 degrees is consider hot,you will be cooking your GF if you push the temperature higher. I understand of your concerns..don't worry too much.

I kept GF in anti chlorine treated/aged water and they will live for years...i kept GF in normal condition without any trouble.

You need to open your eyes BIG BIG when buying from LFS. There should be no problem as long they are healthy when you buy them

Note you need to have sufficient filtration while keeping GF as they are notorious POO MASTERS
