    Hi experts

I have some snails growing in my tank recently. Still in baby stage but many of them. They only come out at night when light is off so I have to catch them one by one slowly. Very time consuming.

I added 3 assassin snails 2 weeks ago but they are not keen to eat them. In my tank I have 6 horned nerites and 3 assassin snails

Any experts can help me to identify them and recommend a method to get rid of them.

    Thanks in advance.

Put in more assassin snails. I put about 5 of them and after 3 to 4 weeks, all button snails gone, can only see their white shell

I already have 2 assassin snails and they are creating another problem for me. These assassin snails are laying eggs around and their eggs are very unsightly. so I have not solved one problem in eliminaing button snails and creating another. Sigh!

    These are ramshorn snails.
Puffer can get rid of them BUT puffer are well-known fin nippers.

Can try to research horseface loach or clown loach, they will help to reduce the snail population too.

Re: Help to ID the snail and to get rid of it

These are actually commonly called Button Snails. This particular snail keeps the shell close to the surface where it is crawling, basically the shell lies flat instead of upright on the snail's back. Assassin Snails are ineffective against these small snails. The use of a loach or puffer is easier.
