    Hello,
I am new as well. New to this forum, but not to the fish hobby. I had goldfish, tropical fish and now cichlids. I use dot work in fish store too and learnt alot during that time. That was several years ago and perhaps my knowledge is outdated now, but a few years back is tarted a website to refer customer who came into the store about information on new aquariums. If you would like to take a peek at what I made, please look at http://newaquariuminformation.com for a few things that may be of use. The most popular section is the cloudy and green water sections as so many people would flood into the store telling me of this problem!

That's a nice site and I have bookmarked it.

Have you come across any filter which can filter green water, but not with UV? It will be nice to know of such a filter.

    Re: hi!!! Newbie in aquarium.

I've kept guppies many many years ago. I used to keep them in a rusty 4-gallon paint can, in which they thrived so well that I have to scoop up their fry almost every other day.

But nowadays, I prefer other fish because Guppy fins these days have become so large that the poor little fish have problems balancing and swimming properly. Another reason is that they spend almost every minute of their lives breeding, lol. But the most attractive thing about Guppies is their superb color.

You can spray a sticky product on your filter pad (can't think oif the name now) to filter it out but it won't completely solve the problem. A diatom filter would work.

Whatever you do it will eventually come back though.

Im into Corys. They're nice and cute esp if you are using Sand as a base. Strongly recommended as they stuff their head to their sand, also helps to clean the sand of any uneaten food.

I keeping zebra plecos l46 now, maybe in future I try to keep corys. Sounds cute when they actually stuff their head into the sand

Do you mind to check the name of that sticky product that is sprayed on the filter pad? I am very keen about how to solve thick green water problem. I like green water but need to control the concentration of the green Algae. Thanks.
