you mean the soil turn white? what brand of soil are you using?
Hello to all, I need some help. my tank once in awhile will turn "white" (see photo).
my filter is working fine (using Eheim), water change about once a week.
anyone knows why?

Ya, soil turn white. but i notice it turns white for 2 or 3 days then it turns back to normal after that. this happened several times already and everyone in the tank is fine.
Not really sure. I got it from a locate fish shop. it was just in a big bucket and i bought a couple of kg.
I really need help. It seems to be turning white once a week an it last for a few days. Is it the food that I'm feeding or the filter? My friend uses the same soil and this doesn't happen to him.

Hmm. I always avoid having left over food. in fact, i think i feed them too little.
Is it possible it is the type of food I'm feeding?
I sometimes feed them with Sea monkeys or blood worms.
Most of the time I feed them with this.

do you have anything to measure the water parameters? KH? GH? Nitrate, nitrite levels.
Also, what is the temp of your water?
That's a good question. I know my water temp is around 22-23.
As for the other water parameters I have no clue. maybe I should check those. Is there anything you can recommend to check those parameters?
Go back to the source where you got your substrate. Ask what's going on? I think all we can do is speculate.

Looks like toilet paper someone dropped in.it is fungus, could be the same when you do DSM. I would vacuum it out along with the soil around it. If it continues, i would change my soil.
