    Hi folks,

it been long time I come here. The forum has grown. After moving into my new place, I am setting up a tank again. This time, it will be a ADA P90 tank (90x45x45cm), gotten all stuff except need advise for chiller.

Previously, I have Teco RA200, RA680 and Mirco. All were pretty bad experiences except the RA680. I have given up all.

Moving on, I am considering Arctica 1/10HP or the Teco TR15 (a little hesitant but the size and power fits). Not sure which to get? I have space constraint. Custom made space can only fit the above sizes.

Anyone got advise or comment? May i have your assistance please.

My only advice is to have your chiller modded with an external temperature probe. The probe will be placed in your tank to take the actual tank water temperature. The current chiller design is to take the internal temperature of the water container in the chiller itself. If budget is a concern, have a look at the new Hailea chiller.

Oh.. interesting - probe in the tank sounds logical. Is the modification complicated and does it affect warranty?

I have bad experiences with chillers. I am willing to pay (but not endless budget). Mainly, I will be getting a one model up (in term of capacity) for my 90x45x45cm tank. Base on Arctica site calculator; a 1/10HP model suffice but I am going for 1/5hp. Due to height constraint, it seems like TECO TR15 or 20 fits my needs. What's your opinion?

No experience with Arctica or Teco. I do not know if they allow their chiller to be modded. My only bad experience of chiller was with a Resun CL650 for my 4ft marine tank. This chiller literally blew up, spraying refrigerant all over the floor, lost a lot of coral. Currently using a Mitsubishi aircon compressor chiller connected to a rubber coated copper coil. Short operation time of around 20++ minute, lower heat produced compared to the Resun CL650. I agree that you should buy a size larger than what you need due to our weather.

Re: Setting up a tank after a long time

Just settled for Arctica 1/10hp for my 90x45x45cm tank. So far so good. have constraint of height otherwise the 1/5hp should be great! Noise level higher than I expected comparing to my previous Teco RA200. Or maybe I have forgotten about the noise level and also I am housing this inside (previously left by the side in the open). I guess, this should be good for my tank size and hope it does have lots of kicking in.

    Hi folks,

Not sure if we have it here already. I was at Aqua Forest (Tokyo) last week and saw the ADA LED lighting (available in 30cm and 36cm) cool design, bright and the voltage fits Singapore (range 110-240 stated in the plug). Selling at 9800 yen (approx: S$160 to S$170). I thought it is reasonable. Wanted the 30cm (should be cheaper) but no stock.
