going for a vacation soon - wonder how many days can crs go without food...
need to arrange for someone to drop by and feed...

Depend on the amount of plants you have ... My tank is a 2 feet tank with 17 crs 5 tiger 4 coloured shrimp ... I can dont feed for a week .. because there are alot of algae and food around .. That is from what i observe for my tank

This is a much over-looked topic. When people say they can don't feed for a week.. I feel that it's very misleading. I use my wafers to determine their feeding behaviours. If you feed them daily with your wafers you notice that only some will go to the wafer. That's because essentially, they're not that hungry. Don't feed them for 2 days, and about 70% will head for the wafer.. don't feed them for 3 days, and almost 100% of your shrimps will rush for the food. Naturally occuring algae and bio-film is not really enough for them. If you don't feed them for a week, they'll survive.. just like how kids in rural Africa are barely surviving.. but essentially, they're starving.

Try to have them fed at least once every 3-4 days with wafer..

I feed my shrimps once every 5 days cos I'm not at home most of the weekdays.
But I make sure my tank has plants which they can feed on when they are hungry.

If u are going away for a few weeks, best is to put a ketapang leaf in the tank. Make sure u boil it for a few minutes to soften it. This leaf will be their food source for a few weeks no problem.

Prepack the amount of food that you want to feed.
Non shrimp/fish keepers will very likely overfeed.

if you cant find any person to feed your shrimps during your 10 days trip

i got one suggestion is to use barley straw.........use a media bag and put few pellets of barley straw in it & sink it with a small rock

this way the barlet=y straw wont be messy for days in your tank & shrimp will feed from the media bag & leftover barley straw wont cloud but benifit your water .
