Mineral Rocks and Old Sea Mud Rock

Hi bros,

I got a question on the above rocks..

Firstly, I would like to know the difference in the 2.. I spoke to a bro before, and he mentioned that he had substitute mineral rock with old sea mud rock.

Do they serve the same purpose, and if not, what does each of it do? I heard that they play a part in the colouration of CRS... how does that happen?

The old sea mud rock that I have seen once in a store (I've forgotten where it was) was in rock form, I do use the Mosura old sea mud powdered form under my soil, so is it better to get the rock form and place it in the tank direct or just regular topping up of the Mosura type would do?

Also, where can I purchase these mineral rocks or old sea mud rocks, and roughly what is the cost?

The rock will slowly release the minerals that is required for shrimps as we do water change and lose these minerals.therefore I buy the mud rock as I'm lazy to powder all the time and also the rock can also decorate your tank.The base of mud powder is to kickstart the tank as the water is all usually our declorinated water which has no minerals at all.

Thanks for your comments, sir. So does this mean that mineral rock and Old Sea Mud Rock are the same thing?
Do they improve the colours for CRS?

Also, where can I get it?

I suspect mineral rocks are more " strong" as I saw before on the packet for sulewesi setups.therefore old sea mud rock is for crs and it says will make colour better. Where to get it not sure old sea mud rock hard find. I personally use the old sea mud rock from Borneo wild

Oh.. I see bro.. Maybe I try to find the Borneo Wild one.. Last I saw I think was mosura.. But forgot which shop already.. Where you got yours? If you don't mind sharing.. I went to C328 and they showed me the lava rocks.. Heehee~!

I bought mine at green chapter but their now moving to a bigger shop. you can ask c328 aunty help you bring in old sea rock of mosura

I actually went to petmart today and saw that they have it, so I bought one..
Do I just put it into the tank and leave it?

What is the size of your tank? It is usually one rock every two feet

There is actually a few places that have petmart,green chapter and C328
Pet Mart is at serangoon pet street and cost if I remember is no more expensive as 30$
And you will be able to purchase a packet enough for a four feet tank.

There is two kinds one is old sea mud rock of mosura brand
Another is borneowild mineral rocks. Both to me to be frank Looked like the same but currently I'm using borneowild one.

Bro, I think petmart closes on Wednesdays.. Best check it before heading down.. Alternatively, you can try green chapter.. Saw them displaying a lot of Borneo wild rocks and some mosura rocks at their macpherson site the last time I was there..
