Hi people, I recently bought some 18 pieces of so-called Kurokinryu stones from Mizuworld. However it looked nothing like what I bought few years back . Texture, colour and even feel (new ones felt sandy...) are totally different. I am afraid it may change the PH or some adverse effects to the water. Person-in-charge said its from supplier but I am not convinced. I have even do a trial layout in the tank and they really look different, even after soaking in water overnight, as advised, which I did. The thing here is but getting exactly what I am looking for... guessed online purchase has this disadvantage. This is really a "big stone" in my new endeavour.

Any "pro" bros can help to identify and perhaps advise where I can get what I am looking for, much appreciated.

P/S: First photo showed my trial layout, right bottom shows the 3 Kurokinryu stones. Second photo showed 3 Kurokinryu stones on the left (or could they not have been Kurokinryu all these while?) compare with the rest.

Are you sure this is the correct rocks?
Recall cannot import out of Japan or something.

Mizuworld gets rocks from their supplier, there have been some rants and complains about batches that mizuworld get not having that standard.

Try searching in the fourm, I recall 2-3 disappointed with what they receive.
Try google look for sample pictures.

Lastly. The sales picture mizuworld use is pretty old.

    Re: Kurokinryu Stones??

Hi felix_fx2, thanks for the feedback. Yes I researched on the forum before, saw few of them supposingly not getting what they were really looking for. One pursuited the case even. Mizuworld is not replying my SMS to-date.

Any bros know where I can get reliable source for nice stones? Seemed like difficult to find a LFS selling "identifiable" ones as they tend to mix them all together.

    Re: Kurokinryu Stones??

Personally, i've been so tempted so many times to purchase online. Who doesnt right? Just click and kilos upon kilos is delivered right to your doorstep. Problem is you might not get what you are looking for. Once i was so into hunting and trying hard to get my hands on seiryu rocks. One click and 80 bucks would have been gone. Thankfully, i keep telling myself checkout another time. Did research and found that these rocks with all their names were just rocks. Taken from different part of the world. Unique only by its geographical location. Seiryu in japan is ban for mining.

Rocks that people keep saying is from ada are rubbish. They are not own by them. They are popularised by ada. However ada do chisel, cut, break etc to this rocks. Usually so that they can insert their wabi kusa plants.

This days i just go down to seaview and mainland to get my rocks. No longer i care the name of classification of the rocks, i just get those that looks unique and all of them are of the same tone. Yes it can get sweaty and you might be spending hours flipping rocks but thats just the part of the fun.

Most lfs have no idea the name of this rocks are by the way. I've gone to a few and seen whats offered. So i suggest you do the same. It can be fun. There are folks who even know when new shipment arrives and they get there when it arrives.

Here are some lfs i've gone to. Price ranges and so does quantity/variety.
    Y618
    C328
    Seaview
    Mainland
    Aquastar
    Polyart
    Blue Planet
    GC
Tampines neighbourhood. Theres two. Skip them unless you got deep pockets.

Some guys i know have containers of rocks. I'm not suprise our serious aquascapers has a store room full.

Ps: if i do get it wrong, do correct me.

    Happy hunting.

Contact mizuworld and tell them that the rocks you purchased are indeed not kurokinryu rocks. Ask for a refund. Neondagger from this forum had the same issues as you also, bought kurokinryu from mizuworld and came the same as some yellowish rocks. They refunded him after many unanswered emails and phone calls.

    Re: Kurokinryu Stones??

Hello bros, thanks for the comments. I bought some nice rocks from them before but I guessed its a risk I took.... Yup, I supposed its more exciting to dig through the "ruins" (lfs) for "my precious ones" (stones) than to order online. I didn't bother to pursuit the case, basically sending them SMS which was not replied. I have better things to do and just made do with what I have. Its obvious I won't buy stones online anymore (though I do think of the weight of any such harvest)

If real Kurokinryu Stones cannot be imported out of Japan, wouldn't MizuWorld get into trouble selling them to locals here?
