I thought the Singapore/Wood shrimp is Atyopsis moluccensis? also the skunk shrimp is the malayan shrimp.
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

Thanks subzero for sharing. Very interesting.

Regarding Atyoida sp. (?) ("Wood Shrimp", "Singapore Shrimp") is more commonly known as Mountain shrimp in LFS.

I had tried several times to rear these shrimps but not sucessful. Any input regarding the optimum conditions for this shrimp.

    Cheers

confirmed with an ichthyologist (Ng HH previously from NUS) that the common Singapore/Wood shrimp (pic 3) is Atyopsys moluccensis so pic 4 is wrong.

also here is what he had to say in general about shrimp ID:

[quote:4ffa80ed02="Ng HH"]It's a lot more difficult identifying shrimps accurately from photos.
You need to examine them under a microscope, especially for Caridina. I know people in NUS working on shrimps, but I doubt if eventhey can accurately identify Caridina to the species level from a photo. The giant wood shrimp is Atyopsis moluccensis, so that is one name out of the way.[/quote:4ffa80ed02]
