been to the nature fish shop at balester hill this afternoon. they are selling a 1 x 36 w 2 ft light for $60. if this price ok?

you see i intent to grow only Riccia in this 2ft tank , so i need advice on the following:

    1) since Riccia do not have root, so do i need the soil base?

    2) for Riccia, the 1 x 36w light enough or need 2 nos.

    3) what i can get Riccia at a much cheaper price?

    thank

    Hi,

As a rule of thumb, 2 to 3 watts per gallon is good enough for almost any plant. But it also depend on the height of the tank. Which also mean how well can it penetrate to the bottom. 2 to 3 watts is base on an average tank ht. So I assume ht is average for your tank. Arr..do you mean 18watts x 2 tube light hood?

    Buzzmario,
36W for make riccia bubble would not be enuf. Growing them maybe but the main reason ppl grow riccia to see them pearling. 72W would be more appropriate. Ask Chan what he can offer you.
Yes, riccia do not root but I'm sure you want to plant more than juz riccia rite. So I'll suggest soil for your tank.
    Cheers!!

    1) Riccia dun have roots, u gotta tie them on driftwood, tiles/net them up in wire mesh...

    2) 36w for 2ft isnt enuff, I achieve good result with 72watts

    3) u can ask guys in this forum if they have trimming..
