Yes you can, but I am pretty sure the little fella would appreciate a bigger home![]()
Bettas are air breathers, so airpump / filters are not absolute must, in fact, they prefer still water.

I think it's fine. Something bigger will be better. But betta prefers warmer water. If your office air-con is on. The betta might not be as resistant to illness.
Betta can live....survive....mate...breed..in a non filtration or aeration tank.
It should be fine as Long as you use anti chlorine...and once a while siphon the waste out.
You might also put a stalk of hornwort to suck up nitrate.

I'm a little split between a betta and breeding fairy shrimps.
fairy shrimps might be easier, light levels in the office might not sustain any aquatic plants unless the Dracaena sanderiana(lucky bamboo) counts as one
so far I have one generation of fairy shrimp growing.
I think I saw a few betta selling $1 to $3 at Y618.
How do I know if these are healthy? Why are they so cheap?
Healthy bettas do not show any obvious symptoms of illness and should be vigorously flaring almost immediately once the cards separating the tanks/bottles are removed. Those bettas you saw at Y618 are not as pretty and therefore, cheaper than the fanciful ones you see at show benches or elsewhere. That said, some of the "cheap" plakats are genetically closer to the wild Betta splendens than their fanciful cousins.
Currently keeping large predatory fish 🐟
I bought mine for 2 bucks at y618 and houses it in a 4 gallon tank. Looked perfectly normal when i bought it. But a week later it started showing symptoms for internal infection and 3 weeks later external parasites (hookworm). moral of story is sometimes u really wont be able to tell. Luckily my betta survived the ordeals and is now a healthy one![]()
can go without any filtration and pump...veri hardy fish. My I just keep in a 750ml bottle...wc daily...no addition thing require. They are still health and nice.
