I hve noticed that there is a whitish spot on the back on one of my newts. It has grown bigger since over the weekend. It had the spot for about 3 weeks, that's why I did not take serious action but today I noticed that it has doubled in size. I think it is some fungus infection, any treatment for this? apply some salt-water on it?
Thanks.

Thanks, I read through but some ofthe medical terms too complicated for me. I isolated the algae eater away and I am checking on its health.
Oh dear... some fish like to feed on body slim... especially algae eaters... I have a big Ornate Birchir killed by my Rainbow Shark and Synodontis Catfish a few years back because of this...
Presumably you did not keep those newts at the specified temperatures.
Presumably you mixed fish with the newts.
The treatment is refrigeration. Epsom salt solutions can be used in conjunction.
Obviously, get rid of the fish in your tank if there are any.
the fishes inside the tank is just some swordtails now. The tank is in office so during the day the temperature is low - 22 degrees. So I am monitoring, may have to do a salt-water soak to see if the newt will be better.
If this is H.orientalis, then the temperatures are good only around 16-20. But 22 celsius is good progress from typical temperatures though. Refrigeration, details can be found on caudata culture, can be useful.
