Had to give up my tank about 1-2 years back before it got fully matured and low grade crs was happily breeding inside. Sold the whole setup to someone.

    Setup
Tank - 2.5ft (if I am not wrong)
Filtration - Eheim Ecco Pro (forgot the exact model)
    Lights - 2 T5
    CO2 - Pressurized CO2
    Substrate - ADA Amazonia

Now due to space constraint, started a 40cm tank. Did not do a proper set up, planting with fauna inside the tank. Resulting in frequent casualties as the substrate was stir up quite frequently.

    Setup
    Tank - 40 by 19 by 24cm
    Filtration - Eheim Aquacompact 40
    Lights - 2 T5
CO2 - Low tech manual press canister CO2
Substrate - Shrimp Soil from CRS Haven

Having some issues with this current tank.
    - Algae bloom
    - Plants are not growing well, APP seems to be melting.
    - Personally don't like the quality of this tank, regret not taking time to search and find a good one.

Finally decided to get tank that I really like and do a proper one, with good planning. The above 40cm tank will be decomm once this new tank is up and running

My previous setups are all newbie knowledge and mostly done my planting with water filled tank and with fauna inside.

    Setup
Tank - 45 by 20 by 22cm GEX Slim Series
    Filtration - Eheim Aquacompact 40
Lights - Have yet to get it, most likely getting the normal 2 tubes T5
CO2 - As mentioned due to space contraits, thinking if I should continue with the low tech canister CO2. Alternative would be pressurized CO2 systems for nano tanks, but unsure about it as I do not know if the CO2 cartridges are easily available at LFS.
    Substrate - ADA Amazonia

Empty Tank, pasted oyama paper yesterday. Did not take pictures.

Testing for leaks just in case.

Dried the tank and now the soil are in.

Currently stopped at this point, yet to get my lights thus not able to start anything. the light is taken temporary from my current tank to take pictures.

Would like to hear some opinions from people here. Thinking if I should move the current scape over and do some refining to make it look nice since the tank size difference is very small.

But currently leaning towards doing a new scape. Not sure if I should do a iwagumi scape or wood scape. Or a mixture of rocks and wood.

Hope experienced forumers can give some ideas or pointers.

I see that you have the GEX Glassterior Slim which I am interested in getting. How do you find the quality and clarity of the tank? Anyone knows how it compares to higher grade ADA or ANS tanks?

I am happy with the clarity and quality, with the price I am not complaining. I have no encounter with ANS tanks, I think ADA tanks are far more clearer and of much higher quality.

Finally found time to get plants and do my setup on saturday.

Found out that i should plant the nana at shaded area, thus removed them from the driftwood. Added in finer soil for easier planting for my foreground.

    Prepared my plants.

    End of my planting.

Not as cloudy as I expected it to be.

Side view. Using the manual CO2. Think I didn't do a good job as the bigger soil came up from below after I did my planting.

Started in the late afternoon and by midnight the water have already cleared up.

Gotten pressurized CO2 on sunday as it was much more affordable compare to where I bought previously.

Wanted to try and convert my filter output to the left side of the tank and use a glass lilypipe, but unable to do so as I can't get hose of the right size.

If I'm not wrong, you planted the ferns and nanas directly into the soil right? Their rhizomes will most definitely melt and lead to plant death. They're not meant to be planted directly into the soil, rather to be tied on to driftwood etc.

Maybe you can try and tie them to your main driftwood..
