DIY CO2 Yeast - Bubbling for 2 hours and then contract?

    Hi,

I have done some CO2 bottles using the yeast method:
    1) filled up 1/4 of the the bottle (coarse sugar)
    2) one teaspoon of baker's floor
    3) one teaspoon of yeast

After a while, from the bubble counter, I can see the air is "expanding" (the air is pushing the tube), after 2 hours, it contracted again (the water level in the tube goes up again)?

I have to wait til tomorrow morning to see if it overflows my yeast bottle.

    Any explaination?

How much water do you put? And how big is your tank?

Did you put a check valve to prevent back-flow?

Watch out for the yeast mixture getting into your tank!!! If it does, your tank is toast! (I had a bad experience. My whole tank smelled like alcohol, slimy layer grew on all plants. At the end, I had to dismantled the whole tank and threw away all plants. Fortunately I was quick to move fish to a temporary holding pail and they survived the whole ordeal!!!)

i'm using the 1.5 litres one,
I have 2x 1.5 litres combined to go to a bubble counter,

and now no bubbles created.............help me..........

btw, i have never successfully created a CO2 bottle if I put in baker's flour...............what is the flour use for?

i tried sugar and 0.5 teaspoon of yeast also no response..........what kind/brand of yeast are you guys using?

wait a min, is it baking soda or baking flour? i'm using baking powder from bake king.............

i have put a check valve to prevent tank water from coming out.........

it says "Baking Powder" from "Bake King". Don't know if it's the correct one, but i guess not, because never got successful CO2 bottles when adding this one.

Ingredients: Sodium Bicarbonate, Calcium Carbonate, Sodium Acid Pyrophosphate and Starch.

Is it too much ingredients? Or just get get Sodium Bicarbonate can liao? Can recommend brand? Got Picture?

Baking soda is sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3)

Baking powder is a combination of baking soda plus a few other things, most importantly a dry acid.

okay, just bought the baking soda thingy,

    Steps
    ^^^^
    1) filled 1/4 of the bottle with coarse sugar
    2) 1/8 teaspoon of baking soda
    3) filled the bottle with lukewarm water til 3/4
    4) 1/8 teaspoon of yeast

the 1st 10 mins looks good, the water level (in the bubble counter) begins to push down, good sign that it is working.

The speed at the water level that is being push down is even faster than that when I used a teaspoon of yeast!

I will check it again tomorrow morning and update this post.

    Cheers! Goodnight!

Must make sure that when u put the yeast into the sugar solution, the sugar solution must not be warm/hot or else all yeast die, then no CO2.

lukewarm is okay lah, unless your definition of lukewarm is hotter than mine.

    wow!! just discovered something!!

i used 2 CO2 bottles, and joined into one using the metal thingy, and with adjustment knob, and u know where leak?~ it's the adjustment knob!! I saw it "foaming" (bubbling) and it's w/o check valve!

imagine with my check valve and it will not acculmate the needed pressure because of the leak!!

wow!! wasted so much effort, hmmm, i think i go get a "plastic Y" instead of this metal thingy,

okay, now i have replaced the metal thingy with the plastic Y and added in the check valve,

seemed okay, let's wait for a few hours and see the whole thing can take the check valve pressure,
