Please help.
By the way, the white spots had things floated out of it.
It may not be white spots. How big are the spots? Sounds like some kind of parasite infestation to me. Salt treatment will still help, but if it's worms, you should consider medication for external parasites.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

The spots are like pimple size, but I found out, that the "white worms" are not exactly worms. I actually found out what the disease is, it is "ich." I went to the pet store and bought a medication call "maracide" by Mardel, and it worked really well. So far, the fish looks alot better now.

    Hi Arowana411,
Would it be possible for you to take a picture for us? White spots the size of pimples? Very interesting.....
Something about the water & the fishes that calms me down.

There'll be no problems if you mix the salt with water b4 adding it into the tank of corys. Basically, if the salt is well dissolved in the tank it'll not cause problems to your cory. The problem arises when you just add the salt which will sink to the bottom of the tank with corys being bottom dwellers it's not surprising that they'll be affected by it.

I'm quite skeptical when manufacturers claim that their medicine won't harm beneficial bacteria cos if it can kill parasites how can it not kill the beneficial bacteria???

I also read somewhere that if your filter media comes in contact with medicine, you'll have to throw away the media cos even if you fertilize the media again with BBs after treatment, the media will not be able to house the BBs again. It's like if there's a leak in a nuclear reactor, the soil and water in that area will be contaminated beyond use even in years to come. Can anyone verify this point?

There was once all my 100 over cardinal were infected in my 6' tank. Went to C328 and talked to the male boss , he recommended a brand which I can't remember now. The color is dark-green milky and I needed to dose a lot over a week. Overall I dosed 3 bottle of them . Within a week all of them are cured under 26 deg chilled water for my planted tank. No casualty on fishes and shrimp.

They have a bigger pack which is more economical for big tank , as frequent dosing is required during the course of treatment.

For all of you, whose fish might be infected with parasites or specifically "ich," there is a really good medication that works and works effectively. I went to a different pet store and the owner recommended to use that medication, also that is what he uses at the store. The name is called "Rid-Ich." I posted earlier about a medication called "Maracide," it does not work as well after the 2nd treatment. I started the treatment with "Rid-Ich" last night and the result is already visible this morning.

No problem, arowana411. I don't mean to sound patronising but the white spots we know is all but a very tiny spot sometimes we can't even see if in bad lighting. And they usually come alot more than just 4 spots. Personally, I've not seen it that size before( pimple ). If it's not too much of a problem, keep us posted. Thanks.

Oh, don't worry. Don't get me wrong, but it's not like a big pimple, it's not small, some of them are almost the size of the blue smilies on the right. Also, the fish had 4 spots in the beginning, but as time progressed, more developed. The last time before I started the "Rid-Ich" treatment, it had at least 20 spots. That was the reason, I started to get worried and tried another treatment.

The one that I used to treat white spot for my chilled 26 deg 6' planted tank is Waterlife-Protozin. No casualty casualty caused to fishes, shrimp and plants.

Try Mardel Coppersafe. I treated my 4ft tank, it works!
The best thing is - it is colorless.

That's interesting, because I bought the Mardel Maracide instead of the Coppersafe, but what is the difference? Because the Maracide only worked when you first start the treatment, but I think the "Rid-Ich" is way better.
