    Here's a new product I invented.

    - Algabeater© Miracle Water -
Visibly reduces algae in just weeks! Add any amount of Algabeater you wish. It works even when you don't add it, so one bottle can last you forever!

    Contents:
    - H20

    Instructions for use:
    - Ensure adequate lighting
    - Maintain 20-30ppm CO2 (For CO2 injected tanks)
    - Maintain proper fertilizer dosing regime

Think I have any market potential?

But seriously, I remember being so tempted to try all these products when I first had problems, but I decided to stick it out and do it the hard way. Looking at my tank now, it's far from perfect, but no regrets.

For those who are still skeptical about dosing NO3 and PO4 to rid algae, here are some thoughts. It won't hurt to try afterall your tank is already infested with algae. You might even learn something and increase your confidence after trying. Beside, what's in it for us to say it works when it doesn't? No one wants to be labelled as 'giving bad advise' here in the forum.

Yes, it kills everything, even filamentous algae.
Takes about 2-3 weeks to do that.

We have a ultrasonic lyser at the lab for removing organelles out of algae and isolating chloropast etc.

The unit has a certain frequency pattern that does not harm plants and larger forms and is beyond the hearing ranges of most things(fish etc).
Change the frequnecy and you can clean your jewelry or cause the water to vaporize. I would suspect any issues there would also show up with the fogging units as far as critter/pet health.

I use an electric bug zapper for mosquitos, they get fried in the dull blue light, I hate them above all insects.

No, a fogging unit will not do the trick. It needs to be a the right frequency for lysing the algae cell's vacoules which have less support than higher plants.

I have not tested it on potentially sensitive plants like Riccia, Mosses but it does work on more common submersed plants/pond plants.

These are for large pond application and is like tossing a speaker out in the middle of a pond and removing it after a week or two when the water is clear and the free of algae.

    BTW, Great marketing

    Algabegone.

BGA is easy to get rid of BTW by a 3 day blackout. Seems to be 100% effective. See old threads.

It's also FREE, hard to argue with FREE.

    Regards,

hmm: do you have a photo of the thing and who sells it?

I can think of TWO great applications

    1) remove algae
    2) rent it out.
    3) clean my SLR lenses and camera (sensor) : similar to olympus E1's built in ultrasonic dust cleaner
    4) clean other people's SLR lenses and cameras and charge them

It's made by a company in the Netherlands, our lab model is not too assuming, a box with the frequency and intensity settings and a large metal speaker probe.

Yes, it's something for folks that slack off ands want to remove the algae the lazy way. Perhaps run it for a few days each month etc.

But it's still no replacement for pruning and gardening aspects and plant health.

No matter what product comes out, it does not grow plants and does prune the plants etc for you.
These are the things that will help have a nice algae free tank, not algaoneandnothinglefttoeat.

Have you played with cavitating bubbles and sonoluminescence with your sonicator? I remember when I played with my sonicator during a school project, still have the transducers with me still, never managed to get sonoluminescence though,...memories...
Oh, the rare old Whale, mid storm and gale. In his ocean home will be. A giant in might, where might is right. And King of the boundless sea.
