Yes, they need to QT, and sucess rate or surive rate is 50/50.
But if they can live with good QT for more than 2 weeks, i think chances is very good

Altums are just like any other fish. QT is always recommended for any fish you plan to introduce into your home setup. That being said, this is more so for Altum Angels due to them being susceptible to many harmful diseases. They come from areas with very low PH levels and the problem comes when they are being introduced into home setups that have significantly higher PH levels. In their natural habitat, most harmful agents are not present in low PH waters and hence, the Altums have no natural immunity towards them. However, once introduced into a tank with higher PH, they will need to build up their immunity slowly and its always the first 2 weeks whereby they are not able to naturally fight off diseases. That's why everyone recommends a good dose of anti bacterial/fungus medication during QT.

Hi guys, sorry to hijack this thread, but which particular medication is ideal for quarantine or any specific brand? And how often do I need to apply the medication during the quarantine period?
i had read through other forum about QT medication. All was talking about furan-2.
i suppose it should be the one.
anyway, i bought a bag of altum last night and furan-2.
sadly, morning saw 1 of the altum up lorry.
no worry, sometime the fish is already too late to rescue. remember to add furan-2 in the tank first before putting in the AA.Originally Posted by venom
my 1st batch oso 1 up the lorry the second day, however with furan-2 until today more then 7days the rest 4 is still swimming and eating well
one more thing, if can up the temp to 30degree during QT will help too
Thanks for sharing guys! What a coincidence, I also bought a bag yesterday afternoon but mine is up the MRT because ONE died just within the day. Oh no, I did not add any medication to the QT tank, this evening when I went home,the other four still alive. I better add furan 2 immediately when I get back later as I'm not home right now!!
got back home from work and saw another up lorry.
2 death within 1 day in my tank.
now dose pack2 of furan2.
Immediately added furan 2 into the QT tank last night but still too late, this morning one more up the lorry.
I heard adding abit of aqurium salt might help.
