How to judge NO3 using sera tester

Hi,

I got a sera NO3 tester.The chart has got 5 portion, (yellow)0mg/l,5mg/l
...40mg/l(red).

Is 1mg/l=1ppm?

What other area do I have to take note?

Make sure you dont put too much of the powder.

The reading swings a lot depending on how much or little of the powder you put in when testing. The spoon they give you for the powder is no help at all, I can never get the right amount

I pretty much gave up on it as I can never get any other reading on it other than 40ppm, even when I had just done a 80% water change on my tank

Using a AP Nitrate Test Kit now. It seems okay, initial reading of 20ppm . Change 30% water readig drop to 10ppm, so at least it seems to work
