It's probably fungus. Had it on some of my wood when I started a new tank recently. I put in 4 baby SAEs to keep mosquitos in check, and they ate it all up.

Will this fungi go away if I immersed the bogwood inside water and changed out the water every week for a duration of 4-8 weeks? I've been repeating this for 4 weeks but the persistence of the fungi is exasperating!I can't put it into my tank straight as I cannot put shrimps or SAEs in there for some reason. Anyway other alternatives?

    Cheers!

I was told by an LFS that soaking with boiling water will prevent it.
