How often do bkk panda molt?

Hi guys,

Just want to check how often do your bkk molt?

I have a tank of about 9-12 bkk panda and i seldom see molted shells in my tank. Maybe like only once a week or once every 2 weeks i am able to find only like 1 piece of molted shell.

So i am checking on this issue, is it normal?

If you do a WC regularly, you MAY see more molts. If you do only water top-up, then less likely to see molts, unless your top-up is equivalent to about 10-20%.

Thank for the reply , last time i use to wc once a week with age water but now doing once 2 weeks , cause im concern about the PH as i dont want my soil life span to be shorten.

Correct me if I'm wrong, If the water has been prepared adequately, I don't really think that will affect the lifespan of the soil that much. Meaning to say, if the water is prepared to have similar pH, slightly mineralised for RO/DI water along with other parameters.

Yes bro, i dont use softwater or ph down , so ph in age water is at 7.5

Can't exactly put it that way. Rather, have a regular WC regime, for example once a week, changing out about 10-20% of the water, will induce molting as they adjust themselves to the water again.

I see, less molting resulting in less breeding. No wonder my shrimps are not berried after so long .

I agree that water change will cause the shrimps to molt more often.
On top of that, I believe that a sudden slight change of ph will cause the shrimp to molt as well..

Moulting frequently is not necessarily a good thing. Every moult can put your shrimp's life in danger if the water is not correct for them.

Water Change leads to moulting....Or force to moult...
Too Regularly moulting might lead to high risk of death...

Never really monitor, as long as see moultings once a while not overly worried.

Hee hee..

You will notice a more glossy shell if no force moulting is introduce.
