By the way I am using coral sand as substrate, I think this should not be a problem cuz this tank is not a stand alone tank. It is connected to a 8x4 fgt with plenty of fish stock, which means I cud also use the coral sand to buffer the overall ph. So it'll be something low tech no CO2.....Now I need to consider the type of plants... which I know nuts, I think I prefer grassy types or maybe java moss to carpet the front area...

tank and stand came as a set, its a standard 4x1.5x1.5 tank commonly available in the market, anyone has any experience this stand will not last? Wah...could be risky man if the stand collapse, the fgt could dried up!!! Maybe I should put additional support....

Will be looking forward to see the plant choice. Very interesting for a low-tech iwagumi.

update.... a bit of rescaping/relevelling, added some neon tetras and grass-like plants to the corner, I did some research on plants eg wuz keen on blyxa japonica but the problem is sometimes we can't get what we planned cuz its all about availability at LFSes... most don't do non-CO2 plants so juz make do with what is available, I think the biggest challenge here with be the type of plants carpeting... the ones that interests me like HC, grosso, Elatine Tr etc are either needing CO2 or not available, the LFS I went to even say no way I can do nice carpeting without CO2...haiz

Yep, without co2, it will be harder for a carpet. I would suggest you try out other plants, like java moss, to test out if your setup works

,and if it starts to brown off and die, you will need to research more on the harmony between lights, temperature, substrate & co2 before you start. Furthermore, you have nice rocks, but no one is sure if it will alter the water condition affecting the fish, then plants. You really should conduct some tests with a little plants first.

thanks for the comments, I'll take your advice and use java moss, its not an ideal carpet plant due to mulm accumulation but given the circumstances this could be viable... lets see how it goes

I think it would have been better had your subtrate been higher towards the back. That way, it would provide for a more 3D effect view. especially your white sand duplicating a path towards a valley.
