Where do you get your rocks from?

Hi all,

sounds like a silly question, but just helping everyone know of a good place to get rocks from.
Usual prices are from $5 to $8/kg
anyone knows of places that sell cheap(er) rocks suitable for aquarium hardscape?

afterall when we buy, we buy in the KGs, so cost savings will be quite substantial.

been scouting around lim chu kang area, but to no avail.. hope to get some help here..

Bro, I was in the same predicament. I scouted c328 and Seaview and many others. Small collection of rocks here and there. Nothing spectacular. I think gc stock rocks but I never visit them before. Maybe good stuff i dont know. Cheaper pricing at these lfs but heck, there is no name tagged to this rocks. Closest fit is the dragon rocks that really look like it but who knows. In the end, I bought from Mizuworld but still, their seirya and kurokinyru rocks may not be the real deal. I spent 100+ bucks on them rocks. Maybe i got carrot. Hehe ben's gonna hate me. Incidentally, I use vinegar test on the various rocks. Some sample rocks I bought from lfs really fizzle! The ones i bought from mizu pass the test. Some white rocks from seaview also pass. But some from them didnt as well. My next project is the grab some rocks from the quarry, probably granite. See if they fizzle. Haha.

Usually for one scape, i will buy all from the same shop. Purchased mine all from sea view. Should cost around $150-$200 for all. But i don't even know their names

Haha Peanut...so next time I can't find any rocks left, it must be you.

Most of the LFS that I go to, the rocks are of similiar size. Good for 2ft below. Perhaps only GC brings in larger rocks. Perhaps venturing up North might help in your rock hunt? Go on holiday, climb mountain, walk to the river and bring back rocks ya. =)

forget about the name same rock can be name differently. Just get anything as long as it nice and serve your scape you want to build.

Try visit nurseries at Jalan Bah Soon Bah near khatib Camp (Sembawang Road) . E.g. World Farms, Pioneer . They may stock some rocks for landscaping.

You have to scout around as these shops stock up new rocks from time to time.
I got mine from all over the places from Seaview to Y618 to Pasir Ris fish farms to C328 to Natural Aquarium.
