What ever brand you choose, make sure it is reliable, flow rate is enough, capacity of the media, easy to maintenance, spare parts availability. Good luck for your setup bro.

Save up and then start your project. Use the time you are saving up for your equipment purchase to read more on your future livestock requirement and such.

    I fully agree with BFG...

Else you'll end up like me banging the wall after impulse buying(without proper research) and discovering "I should've gotten this, I should've gotten that.." kind of situations. Trust me it's frustrating to say the least.

    Good luck on your project!

Can try atman, but not too far from ehiem price (for classic series not higher models)

Some folks like to buy and upgrade later, that also means selling the old one at a loss and ending up paying more in the long run.

If your running on a tight budget
1: save up, buy 1 time.
2: buy used ones, risking defect and warranty.
    3: get other brands.

Do some research on a variety of models.
Decide on the budget you can part with, $150+ or below $150.

Do not forget, most models are not packed with media, you'll need to account for that.

If your intending to keep crs. See how many folks use ehiem and you will be surprised. (this is based solely on the crs/bds/bkk keepers I know.

Same advise, save up and go for Ehiem. 2nd hand might work. Ehiem seldom break down and if it does, spare parts are easily available and once it is fix, it will go a long way.

I myself is totally on shrimps...
    Most of mine are Eheim
    2 x 2215
    2 x 2217
    1 x 2028
    1 x 2026

They are reliable and parts are easily replace.

I've 2 more Jebo...works equally well for 3 Years. Overall..important thing to invest is on your media.
