I strongly feel that having a comments system on the LFS list where members can post comments on their experience etc on the displayed LFS. Sort of like Hardwarezone's product listings.

This will surely be really handy info when one wants to visit a new LFS to check out certain stuffs, etc... and letting users give comments saves AQ staff time also.

However much it sounds like a good idea, I think the other way. Some people might just write bad comments about a certain store and then a whole line of trouble begins. They are commercial aquariums and no matter how dishonest or bad they are, the forum is in no position to criticize them in the open .

I am thinking about having a link from the LFS list to the advertisement posted by the commercial aquariums, telling people what is coming in this week or what they have for sale etc etc.

    My 2 cents

    Cheers

It's the same as discussions that intelligently point out the flaws/benefits of certain products or services are always welcome in our forums. as stated in the rules: http://www.aquaticquotient.com/phpBB...pic.php?t=7060

Having a comments system makes it easier for users to lat people know their experience at a particular LFS, how it can improve and as a central location where members can look at another person's comments before they decide to visit a LFS.

Deliberate posting of bad remarks constitutes as spamming and Rules regarding spam in the forums can be applied to the system as well. I don't see why moderating a comments system can be any different than modding forums posts.

What community is a community where information and interaction is restricted due to petty reasons?

As with any community, opened to all discussions, there are bound to be negative remarks. LFS owners can actually look at the comments posted and improve their services accordingly. A customer's impression is important to any business.

    4 cents.

I find the LFS list contains too little info on the shops. I hope to have:
    1) What they are specialise in (like planted, marine, etc)
    2) If they have nice show tanks and how many
    3) What special products they carry
    4) How big the shop is

I think providing personal comments on the shop may not be a good ideal as they are often subjective and do not able to represent the real occurances.

    Thank you.

    Regards,
    Freddy Chng
