I recently got a pair of A.australe from GC. They are wonderful. Settled into the tank immediately and started breeding.

Problem is, the female have eating all the eggs the moment she releases it. Any solutions?

Try and have the tank heavily planted and add a spawning mop. Most importantly, feed them well. Chances are, there will be some surviving eggs.

Just curious, what other killies are you keeping? I'm keeping only Fundulopanchax gardneri nigerianus "Innidere" at the moment. Might want to try Aphyosemion elberti soon.

I am thinking of flooding my tank with a huge amount of moss I recently bought if no one buys it from me.

I think my tank is heavily planted already. The issue is, the moment the female drops the eggs, she turns back and sees the egg, she gobbles it.

Any idea where to get those yarn for spawning mops?

I just started rearing killies! Currently have A.Australe and probably a Gardneri. I would love to trade for a pair of yours! If you allow. Am interested in Nothos as well but I want to successfully rear at least 1 generation of my Australe first.

A thick spawning mop would be your best bet. You can get the acrylic yarns from Spotlight, Plaza Singapura. I got the cheapest ones for making the spawning mops. They are not only effective for non-annuals/semi-annuals but against aggression among fishes as well. I thought about using them as the Austrofundulus leohoignei males fought frequently when I kept them briefly a while ago.

I don't have any killies to trade now. Lost all the species (mainly Annuals) recently due to negligence and am left with a pair of Fundulopanchax gardneri nigerianus.

Do you any yarn stores nearby marine parade - bedok - paya lebar? I don't want travel too far. Lazy. Have to do with my moss for the time being.

That's a pity! Where do you normally get your eggs from?

Nope, not that I'm aware of.

I got the eggs from Aquabid or breeders I know. However, as with eggs by mail, many things can happen. Most of the time, I get nothing from the mails I received and that is especially true for non-annuals/semi-annuals eggs. Only the annual eggs are more resistant.

I would to experience getting killifish eggs via mail. But that have to wait. Have to slowly learn more about the fish! Nothos are definitely on the to-get list.

Iain, one possible remedy for that is to transfer the well-conditioned pair to another plastic critter tank, with mosses spread out over the entire tank floor and leaving only about half inch of water for them to move around. No mops or filtration needed since you have high water surface : water volume ratio. An air stone, moderate setting, will provide water circulation.

Feed them sparingly (preferably live-foods), remove pair after a week and water incubate eggs (if any). You should be able to see tiny fry by the 3rd week. Then again, NOW is a good time to prepare tiny foods for tiny mouths. No point getting fry but only to kill them with hunger.

Above method applies to Fundulopanchax and many non-annual killies as well.
I'm back & keeping 'em fingers wet,

Time to get them tubifex. If tubifex gets into my soil or between my mosses, will it cause any water issues or whatsoever?

Fry food. I am trying to culture some infusoria but I doubt it will be successful. Sourcing for brine shrimp eggs.

    Re: Egg eater!

Once tubifex worms get into your gravel, it will cause water issues when they die. If you are worried, get a small sauce dish, preferably one which is deep. This way, the worms won't get thrown out when the fishes go into a feeding frenzy.

Depending on the species you are breeding, some fry have very tiny mouths but not for the ones you mentioned. The fry are large enough to handle BBS right away, so don't bother culturing infusoria/paramecium.

I have spare BBS eggs at the moment and if you need some, I can sell you => http://www.aquaticquotient.com/forum...ht=#post659245

Sorry, I'm really in dire need of extra pocket money. In fact, my pocket is getting lighter these days...

I would probably have to clear out some rocks in the tank for feeding space! My pelia-like plant is not doing well at all.

I have messaged you regarding the bbs eggs.
