In order to improve overall filter flow rate, I was thinking of adding another canister. However I want to keep one set of intake/outtake so that the tank looks neat (plus one set of lily pipes is not cheap ).

Is it possible to combine the intake and outtake with a Y joint host connector (both at the intake and outtake side). Anyone tried this before?

EDIT: Never mind, after research it seems like a bad idea. Cannot delete thread..

It could be done, just that the diameter of the lily pipe should be larger to accomodate the flow of 2 canister filter.

I am not very sure, after some research online I read someone mentioned that there is a possibility of back flow from one filter to another and many people advised against it. So I just upgraded to a 2217 instead of running 2 filters.

I run two canisters together. Water goes into one canister and that canister goes into another canister and the water is pumped back into the aquarium. The benefits are better water flow, less plumbing, and better filtration because the canisters are not competing for the tank.

My 3 feet setup involves 2 inlets each connected to one canister filter each with both their outflows connected to a single outlet using a T joint. Not sure if this is the best setup though but it's been working without hiccups thus far.
