    Hi everyone

After forced quit from my shrimp hobby, i manage to convince my parent to have a small nano tank without much complicated equipment. In short is low tech plant

I researched for the best carpet plant for low tech and found out that Elatine Triandra (APP ) could be the best choice.

As you can see, my APP started to melt, even my another plant (Dont know the name) also show sign of browning.

I am using a 8w light. water temperature is around 28 to 29. Adding macro fertilizer and liquid CO2. Soil is Gex soil. Water is treated with seachem prime.

Is this due to new tank syndrome ? Please kindly advice. Apologise, i am not experienced in planted tank.

    Thank you

I thought new tank syndrome largely applies to fishkeeping only? I am not experienced in keeping App. But I bought some plants from mizuworld and there are descriptions of the types of plants. Maybe you can go there and check the requirement of APP, temp, lighting etc.

Re: Need help on Elatine Triandra (APP)

I have some in my 1 ft nano with GEX soil, fed with Seachem Excel and Potassium. They can grow well at one time and then kind of weakens for some reason and revives again. They also become very small compared to those I see fertilised with CO2.

Some people used to say they need higher levels on NO3 to grow well, I have never checked my parameters though.
