I'm running Attica chiller 1/10hp with 2217 and no start stop problem that normally assosiate to low flowrate.
The minimum flow rate recommended for a 1/10hp chiller is 240gallons/hour. I intend to use an Eheim 2217. With the flow rate of the canister filter rated at about 260G/H, it hits the chiller's requirements. However that is with an empty canister and i'm sure once i add media in, it will drop below the recommended 240G/H.
I already used JBJ website's chiller calculator and it recommended the 1/10hp for my 2 footer. However it also states the optimum chiller performance is affected by things such as providing the minimum flow rate and i think the 2217 won't be able to. Should i get the 1/15hp chiller or just go ahead with the 1/10hp?
Advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Sorry to dig up old thread. I intend to hook up my 1/10 Arctica chiller to an Eheim 2217 canister but I only have the 16/22 elbow fittings on my chiller. I do not have the other sizes elbow fittings as I bought this chiller second hand. The Eheim 2217 outlet is a 12/16 size so can I know how u guys do it? I have problems finding the chiller 12/16 elbow fitting currently. Have checked with Bioplast, they don't have it as well. Any other places i can find this elbow fitting for Arctica chiller?
just get converter from 12/16 to 16/22![]()
Thought of that also but will it affect the flow rate? Funny, how come 2217 use different sizes fot their inlet and outlet? Always have the idea that different size for inlet and outlet in a setup will affect flow rate. Anyway, if I can find the correct elbow fitting for my chiller, it will also have different hose sizes running somewhere in the setup. Ok thanks, I will just go get the converter.
