Chris, what's that light set you're using? Is this replacement for the 4ft with the MH?

oh yeah. the bare foreground is to faciliate algae removal as well as cory feeding grounds...

I'll probably decor it up with flat stone pieces..

Would be nice to have some large "fluorite" pieces..

I found some of those in some bags of fluorite (ie: uncrushed)...

dont' suppose anyone knows where to get smooth stone pavements (the kind you see in mayan temples..hahah)

would be more aesthetic I think..

I could also do with some tips.. is the wood in the best placement possible? or should I shift it.

Smooth stone pavements? How big are the stones? Pebbles? You can try Nature Company at Joan Rd, behind Far East Nursery at Thomson. They have flat grey pebbles up to about 10cm diameter. By "flat", they range from 2 to 5 cm thick. Not sure if you can get large rocks from them
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:
A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.

Tank Pic taken with My New Sigma 12-24mm

taken hand held, no flash. just to try it out. I can be like 1.5 ft away (or is it 1ft away) if I shoot at 12mm (ie: effective 19.2 mm at 1.6 FOV crop)

    Great setup!

From time to time, I see angelfish sharing the same tank w cardinal or neon tetras. I must say it makes for a beautiful spectacle and I would have loved to do the same. Hwr, as you may know, conventional advice is abstain for reason that angelfish are no angels when put togeher w tetras. I wonder if you closely watch your tetras headcount? Has there been any reduction in headcounts since day 1? Have you seen the angels eating the tetras before?

I gather that cardinals/ neons are also proned to dying from diseases. It’s no fun having to fish out dead fish every now and then esp from a big tank. Btw, what’s your total fish count, including altums, tetras and other fishes? I'm interested to know your long-terms (9 mths, 1 yr, etc) results. I would still like to give the combination a try someday.

I do get a bit disoriented looking at your backdrop. All that I’ve seen so far has got their patterns running vertically. Is this another of your "out-of the-box" aquascaping?

    Update!!
I'm so pissed with algae on my crypts that (survived one week of copper treatment at 0.5+ppm), that I gave it all a major trim!!! nearly a kg of crypt leaves removed...

altums: I have not seen them eating any tetras. I suspect the bigger size tetras are too big for the altums. besides I keep them well fed on tetra bits. *which I assume are made from powdered tetras...

    total fish count:
Corydoras in the the 80+ region
    Botias in the 20+ region
    6 altums
cardinals in the 60+ region *however I can count only 30+ on the photo..so maybe 30+ got eaten..lol*

    3 farlowella
    1 ancistrus
    10+ otocinclus
various other danios and nanostomus beckfordi and white cloud mountain minnows.

    update..
added some rocks from my dismantled office tank.
    shifted the logs.
    moved the banana plant.

    whiteness caused by anti algae.
    tank right now has
    coppersafe 1.0 ppm or so
    azoo bba killer
    aquarium pharmaceuticals algae fix
    azoo algae treater

    ALL at once..
however, no effect, and the malayan shrimp appears to be handling copper well.
