Plants on wiremesh and guppies. dangerous?

Hello, I recently acquired some mini fissidens from a fellow person here. I requested for it to be on a mesh. I noted that the mesh has some pretty mean looking spokes jutting out. I am worried that my guppies may get cut by the sharp spokes. Especially the baby guppies who might sometimes be pushed by the current into the spokes.

Is it advisable to use wiremesh in the water? I heard that they are usually just plated and will corrode over time. what other safer alternatives can I use if I want to carpet the mini fissidens?

1)make sure the mesh are stainless steel, use the magnet method to test.Generally, SS mesh are safe for aquarium use.
2)i have meshes in my planted tank with guppies/platy/shirmps/neon tetras, generally no problem so far.

another alternative is to let it mature in another tank before adding it into the main tank, if you worried about the fishes..

for me, I use to have the same concerns as you also. So what I did was (more hard work on our part...) to bend those sharp ends inwards towards the mesh using pincers. [If you find it hard to bend, then can remove 1~2 strands of the metal wire from each edge before bending...]

Alternatively, try to position your meshes as near as possible to the walls of the tank so that the guppies has less chance of coming into contact with the sharp ends...
