    Re: Iwagumi planting

Welcome to the hobby, good effort for a newbie...heheh

HC can survive without chiller, felix's hc is grown with fan only. There are other low maintenance foreground plants like e-ten, microswords etc to choose from apart from HC if you are really concern about chiller.

IMHO,it is always better to start from low tech, and start slow. So that you can get the main idea of stuffs like fertilizer regime, trimming of plants, photo period, algae and misc cycling issue.

After that, you can go into med or high tech...hehe don't worry there are a lot of poisonous seniors here to poison you ,ops .. Should be Guide you....

Check out my Blog on planted tank, good for newbies ( i am lazy to retype all the info i know, so please click and read below link... i hope you don't fall asleep while reading)

Yes you can still do a HC based foreground...
I saw the fans on the side.. kotobuki or Dymax... should be a dymax...

but don't just get HC alone.. will be a tad dull to see everything same tone..
Browse fourm for samples in Aquascaping section.

A good video by greenmachine. if your going to be planting HC.

Yes there are setups like that, some also mix them slightly.
Take the time to choose the plants and how to plant and trim them.

    1st time doing planted correct?
Moist the substrate abit then plant. After planting is done flood and put co2 3bps or higher.

How many bps and photoperiod now?
    Looking good.

Btw, fauna that like to "peck" on plants for algae.... Ect.
Leave them for later when hc roots in more. If not alot of floating hc

If you need more Straugyone, let me know. Easy to pass to you.

Looking good there. Very uniformed planting

Photoperiod is how long the lights left on e.g. 4pm-12am

Pearling does not always mean good growth is there. (but HC pearling = see will feel satisfied.)
3 bps is ok, i am on 3-4 bps currently. pearling like raining haha.

Photo period = the duration of light which you are giving the plants to photosynthesis aka Photosynthesis-Period.

btw, take picture without flash. off your room lights. (Spam taking pictures and choose the best)
