Firstly, pardon me if this has appeared on Aquatic Quotient before. In fact it had. However the thread was posted 4 years back and hence may not be as up to date.

Back to topic. I will like start my venture into the world of CO2 fertilisation. My tank is small one with dimensions of 29.5cm(L) by 14.5cm(B) by 19.5cm(H). It is a nano of 8.341125 litres (2.20349 US Gallon). Thus I was told that a DIY CO2 system will suffice.

Nevertheless I am not comfortable with the potential mess, time consumption as well as the not very appealing aesthetics of 1.5 litres bottle with tube coming out of it and brown solution within. Hence I am very much interested in purchasing the Nutrafin Plant-Gro CO2 Natural Plant System. http://uk.hagen.com/Aquatic/Watercar...plements/A7690

It comes with the tube and diffuser which is lovely.

So I will like to ask if any one of you know where to purchase it at a low price (below SGD 50. It will help if the LFS is one that is towards the East (I'm residing at Tampines and most of the commonly mentioned LFS are at Yishun, Clementi etc.) I do know that the refill can be expensive, thus I plan to revert to the normal DIY recipe once the packets of yeast and buffer that come along finish.

    Thank you in advance.

Nutrafin CO2 Natural Plant System is basically premix DIY CO2 with branded on it. Problem with this type of CO2 is stability and unstable CO2 cause more issue. That is why not many people using it anymore, especially when 2nd hand presurize CO2 complete with solenoid regulator can be quite cheap.

I do have to agree that the latter is more reliable and are cheaper than compared to the price years ago. Nevertheless I am currently still a student and thus not have a stable income (I do get a part time job at the end of the year which pays about 400 for a week's job). I therefore try to work around tight budgets and yet not sacrifice in the aspects of quality and aesthetic appeal. As a matter of fact, the previous thread I have started, "Cheaper alternatives for Coralife metal halide tank mount fixture", I am actually not genuinely interested in the purchasing part but to get a feel of the market out there. Yes I do agree that in this hobby what you get is what you pay for. Nevertheless I do hope that there are exceptions.

Alternatively, I may consider getting a more expensive FluvalŪ Pressurized CO2 Kit 88. Nevertheless it is still not as costly as a considerably cheap CO2 set.

Thank you for your input any ways

FluvalŪ Pressurized CO2 Kit 88 cartridges is not cheap and it does not last long because its small. If money is concern than better do DIY CO2 using those 1.5l soft drink bottle. You just need to buy sugar and yeast, which is pretty cheap.

Or save up for a proper pressurized co2 tank and solenoid and save you some trouble. Take the time whilst you are saving up to read more about the hobby in the interweb or books. Take your time to accumulate your equipment and do not rush. This is not a race and no one is chasing or overtaking you.

Yup. I'm going with this. Hahaha... However, I think by then I would have got a new bigger tank. In addition, pressurised CO2 for a super tiny tank seems to be a little overkill

Overkill is good. 1 full tank last over 6-8months when on 1.5-2bps.
