Please don't listen too all online sources blindly.. There has been lots of requirements stated in the Internet but a lot fail on those requirements or parameter stated..

Learn more about set ups, filtrations, livestock requirements from breeder, livestock kept parameter from breeder, etc... Lots of people are keeping their shrimps in a condition which is keeping them alive but not breeding..

Just curious, what is the purpose of putting up a fan?
If it is to cool your water, i believe it is quite unnecessary. Fire red still do well in room temp.

• Tank water/decoration polluted by external sources e.g insecticide,pesticide,hair spray etc which are not detectable by test kit
• Test kit accuracy? Check for expiry date.

Btw,there is an old fashion way...smell the water...does it smell fresh or foul??

Frankly speaking,IMHO...the tank is way to small for keeping normal shrimp. Barely enough to keep a betta. I would always advise newbies to try out hardy fish first,get the hang of it before keeping shrimp.

He did not cycle his tank if you see his initial posting.. Cause of shrimps death is in a non-cycled tank with ammonia leeching from soil..

Bro, by the time a shrimp tank smells bad the cause would probably be all the dead shrimps inside.

Yeah...probably the case of an insufficiently cycled tank..but a fan with a small tank makes it very difficult to control paramters as well..and definitely greater fluctuations (parameters)will be experienced by the livestocks ,causing in stress to them..

Haha... I've kept bettas in rectangular glass tanks... Smaller than that. And they do very well in them. It's how you take care of the water in it too.. Well, I've had experiences with bettas during my younger days. Haha.. And like you've said, they're hardy creatures... It's just about me getting used to the more sensitive ones..
