All the pots I bought were tissue culture. I do believe the 'normal version' comes with rock wool. Let's wait for Roger to clarify on this.

Double-check with you: the leaves of the tissue-cultured plants have no waxy coating right? Any issues when submerging them?

No coating of any sorts and very easy to plant. I'm trying out the mini hairgrass on a low-tech, hopefully they'll do fine and spread well. The Marsilea Hirsuta should do fine in another low-tech as I've had prior experience with this plant that are actually already spreading well in this tank.

    Hi to everyone.

Apology for the slow replies due to tight schedules. The 'normal version' comes in traditional pots as seen in local LFS.

Hi fellows, may I know what are the various techniques used to get the gel off the roots without hurting the plants?

I'm no expert, here's what I did for my hc, glosso and bonsai. (All Tropica)
Hc, bad experience. Didn't manage to clean off all gel, one week later, white filmy strips of material floated attaching to hc like hair algae. Not really sure if it came from the gel.
Glosso, as the roots are thicker than hc roots, much easier to get rid of gel, running tap water and blow the plant roots, gel comes off.
Bonsai, much more easier, soak in water for a while, ten minutes later shake in running water and blow gel off roots.
    Hope this helps.

Any particular reason why? Is it because the roots of the HC are so fragile that they will crumble/snap easily if too much strength is exerted to rid the gel?

Are the white filmy stuff on the leaves, or on the roots?

I didn't think that the gel would create a problem, hence I didn't think too much about removing from hc roots, 1st time using tropica product.
White strips on leaves, I suspect the shrimps dug the roots hence it flowed out and around the tank and got stuck on anything it can cling to, I might be wrong.
