The answer is yes and you should follow the silicon manufacturer's curing time. Usually between 24 - 48 hours. Then do a water test again. Good luck!
I have an exo terra terrarium which i have used to house my gerbils. my gerbils have been adopted by a friend and I will be using the tank for a vivarium setup. However, when I was washing the tank and filling it with water, there's leakage. The gerbils have been gnawing on the silicon. If i should repair and patch these areas with silicon again, will it solve the leakage problem? please advise.

- 3ft x 1ft x 1ft planted with assorted.
- 30cm x 20cm x 20cm nano for Sakuras, low grade CRS/BDS .
- 15cm cube Bumblebee goby biotope
- 15cm cube in office (Sep 10) [Decommed]
yes, you can repair and patch it back. but if it is not an easy DIY task. i've tried and failed.
Need to remove old silicon ie. as much as you can, then apply the new silicon as per manufacturer's instruction.
Then test again after curing, good luck!!
didn't remove the old silicon. My gerbils bit about 3" long of silicon away. I applied a first layer, then let it cure and then apply another layer. total 4 days after curing, tested with water for 24 hours and no sign of leakage.
Did the skeleton of my exo terra Terrarium last night.
Backdrop is just mesh to sandwich dry sphagnum moss to make it wet for terrestrial moss to grow as moss backdrop. hope this will be successful.
Finally i have managed to get hold of 4 froggies, 2 for this terrarium and another pair for other terrarium
2 driftwood with silicon didn't make it, they came off. here are the pics..
Attachment 32533Attachment 32534Attachment 32535The background mesh with moss didn't make it. decomp the entire tank and redo it.
False bottom as well, with shiraku external filter canister at thie meantime until i can invest a mist system for 3 tanks. will post more pics once setup is completed.
Backdrop - Foam background and covered with cocopeat.
Completed the planting last night. Moss pinned to the foam background with cocopeat. hopefully they will grow as they are terrestrial and tropical moss. using the wet/dry land splitter, the splitter is on top of the cover and the water drips through the mesh. Had to keep the 4 froggies in here first because 1 of them escaped... fortunately, managed to find it
Hi raytan
Since you got four Kermit for your beautiful set up terrarium, I suggest you set a fake flora, not real one, please. If you spend SGD40 on real flora and even moss( not spare) that you love it so much will soon stampede and pull out by the four Kermit, I must say blame your kiasu attitude..If you spend SGD40 on Exo Terra flora and will last you for long long time, be practical ok. just too bad.
If you like , you can always take a good look at my 4ft terrarium and you will know what i really mean..
