400l/hr is too high. You should be aiming for about 2 to 3 times the actual water volume. 2'x1.5'x1.5' is about 120l in capacity, you can assume 100l actual water. So something with about 200 to 300l/hr will do.

IME, internal filters tend to choke more and sooner, especially if a lot of food get wasted or if you uproot every often. Remember to wash often.

They often do not include biological fitler media too, so look for something that does (e.g. Eheim aquaball, but expensive) or find something with which can replace part of the media with biological media like sintered glass. Else put a small netting of the sintered glass near a high flow area.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:
A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.

okie....tat's informative! learnt something new today.....it's so nice to learn so many new things in this planted stuff....better than uni!!!

i'll see if i can modify or squeeze some media into tat tiny internal filter else i may use those external hanging filter with a bit of modifications to lessen the water splashing into the tank.

something i dun understand which is rather controversial.....why do some pp use cannister filters with such high flowrate for their 2ft or 3ft tanks....

I'm intend to set up a 2ft,1.5ft,1.5ft Planted Tank with canister filter Jeabao 615 Flow rate 1200L/H.It is the flow rate too high? Will this affected the water quality or any other problem if I really want to run this filter for my planted tank?

The answer to your first question is in my reply above to af2373. The first paragraph.

At 1200l/hr, you'll probably end up with a mini-whirlpool instead of a aquarium. The fishes will be stressed out and exhausted, and the plants will be swaying violently.

Been using rena filstar internal filter with good result for my 2ft. Reason being that
1)Able to adjust flow rate to a desired level
2)Have some space inside the sponge media for biological media like biohome

    Hope this helps.
