delhezi, how do you gauge a whites well being/health?
Can springtails be bought commercially?
Would love to 'see' your setup for whites also and learn a thing or two or many more![]()
It doesn't matter whether any spiral bulb or tubes or whatever it be, as long keep the wattage is low, lower the better and of course the brighter if any. You see. In the daytime, the Whites had already enough natural light of eight hours while we are working. Hence its doesn't matter with just 2-3 hours more on spiral bulb/tubes when we back. For flushing the waste? cherabin got a good pricey Exo Terra Monsoon rainfall system a fully automation hence this one couldn't be a problem at all.

Hi, cherabin
Thanks for the offer, I still prefer to pay for this bulb but I still warmly welcome you and your wife to view it. However, not at this time, my son is having his O' level examination.![]()
I am still working on a proper new set-up whilst I get through this busiest period of my year.
No, I've been trying to find springtails and previously a member here mentioned that they just drop by from plants if you're lucky. There has been some research done and if memory serves, it takes 4(?) generations to clear toxins from wild caught woodlice.
Good appetite, good bowel movement, activity is key. Croaking is probably a bonus.
With regards to spiral bulbs, I am just advising caution because of the cases in bearded dragons; but I have never noticed similar events in whites. Again, just caution.
And for waste, just make sure you have somewhere to flush it down to. As an analogy, it is no use having a toilet bowl if you're not going to flush it down after it is used.
Anyway, my experiences come in general from the web, whilst my personal experience is nothing compared to that of Eddy and other keepers.
Hi Eddy, let me know when you want the bulb
Hi delhezi, my whites excrete almost after every meal from my I observed. The 'larger waste' produced are also manually removed with a tweezer beside the flushing down with the misting system. This is drained down towards the false bottom and excess water are siphoned out via an air line every couple of days. Last but not least, my whites sing for me every nightagain, will be looking forward to your setup once it's done. Cheers!
Do hope the frequent bowel movements translate to general good well bring of the critters![]()
Hooray cherabin! I must agree with delhezi you are on the way to be a great successful White keeper!![]()
