The cherry shrimps that I bought recently had these molds on it.
Are these harmful and should I quarentine it?
Or am I worrying too much, maybe its their natural way of showing sign of aging?

I was lucky with this shot when this shrimp remained still while I pick up my camera phone.
I think it doesn't because I don't see it moved (or spread, yet) to the lower body.
The sad thing is there are 2 or 3 shrimps came with it, and this one having the most molds.

Then I would recommend you to quarantine it just in case as shrimp dieseases if one affected all affected then touch wood all up lorry eventually better play safe.
Ya, I got more worried after reading a lot more (from google hits) today. I will quarantine it tonight. One of the infected ones is a female, berried somemore. heartpain if it died.

looks like fungus... should remove them from your tank and treat them seperately in another..if i am not wrong gc have something to treat that?

Make sure you do all the drug medication treatments in a separate hospital tank. And make sure the drugs do not have copper as active ingredients.

Just sharing my personal experience. They appears like parasite that can move under manifying glass. Once a shrimp moult, the parasite will leave the moulted shell after sometime and find another shrimp, can spread easily. Tried some medication but not effective at all. Most effective method is quarantine those affected in a seperate container, once you notice any moulting, look for the shrimp that just moult, they usually appear clean and glossy. Remove them back to normal tank immediately. However, if not removed as soon as possible, the shrimp get reinfected with the parasite. This method required me to check on them regularly for moulting.

I have managed to quarantine those affected ones and the more I look at the remaining, the more I felt they are infected also.
I think I am getting paranoid on this.
I will look out for their molting and hopefully I can move them back in time.
Luckily I started with these "easier" shrimps, can't imagine those higher requirement ones.
Hopefully this ordeal will end fast.

you better check if the medication is harmful to plants not. if it's ok, i think it's better to dose into the main tank, as there will be alot of parasite left in the tank. wash all your equipment. wash your media with tank water. maybe 10 percent water change every other day to improve the water quality.

Btw, does anyone have any tips to catch the shrimps effectively?
It's difficult to catch when they flip so fast, and I have to keep my movement slow so as not to disturb the substrate, plus the mosses are quite obstructing.

You can try using the reversed bottle trap. Can't find a link to such a trap but I remember someone shared in AQ before how to make one.

I am actually trying to do a selective catch, probably 1 at a time whenever I see it infected with the parasites.
It's really difficult to catch even with the smallest net available.

Update:
Currently I am using the API Pimafix in the Quarentine Tank as an attempt to cure the shrimps. I was not able to find the JBL or Sera ones.
If this method failed, I will try the salt water dip, this method seems to be effective after reading very convincing feedback from this person (another forum):

Seems to be easier also, just prepare a cup of salt water, dip the shrimp and its ready to be moved back to the main tank.
