i hope this is the right section to post in.

i been trying to tied java moss to driftwood but my crayfish keep tearing them apart.

    Any solution to this?

2nd question, just to confirm, by tying the java moss to the drift wood, it will grow and cover the entire driftwood right?

The moss will need some time before it clings on properly to the wood. You could try growing the moss in another tank then transfer it back to the main tank once it matures or you gotta move the crayfish.

IMO, java moss takes ages to grow (in my tank atleast )

Hmm this might sound nuts and I haven't tried it before, but I read online you can blend the moss up with beer/yogurt into a think paste then you can spread the paste with a paintbrush onto the drift wood. This mehod also requires you to use the DSM, or dry start method, but could be useful. Let me try to find the link for you.

Ah I found it. He used US Fissidens instead but biologically both are still mosses. I would try this method when I get the chance to, but probably in some corner of my room LOL.

    Hope that can help!
On a side note, has anyone tried this before on Java/Singapore Moss and can confirm/deny that this works?

I think you read this before? Long time ago i thought to use this to make a a driftwood as a complete background.
Ended up, stopped before i even started... I've got no good place to do that

Nah I didn't read that. Was just browsing randomly when I saw the link in my post. But seems like a cool way to paint walls LOL. Not public property though. But anyway I might just try on a tiny piece of DW that I have and see how if it works. Saves space too.

Ok thanks everyone. I don't dare to mash up my java moss. I think i shall move my driftwood out till the moss stabilize or something.
From the link i see that he grow his moss without water, just misting it regularly. Will the moss grow better that way or submerged in water?

Well emersed growth does have its benefits and cons.
For example theres a more efficient gas transfer for the plants so they supposedly grow faster. People do use that for their carpeting plants. But if you spam co2 when you add water you may get melts. And a transition period from emersed to submerged growth.

Why will intense injection of CO2 cause melts when switching plants from emersed to submerged growth?

Re: please help for java moss tying to driftwood

I think it should be the reverse? Intense CO2 after flooding will help provide more CO2 for the plant to transit from emersed to submersed form and prevent melting.
But there could also be other reason causing melting e.g if the soil not yet conditioned enough might also cause melting (especially the roots) when flooding from a DSM startup.

Tied the moss with more fishing lines securing it tightly to the driftwood

Oops my bad. Sorry I meant the reverse. Haha. Meant to say that if you spam you won't get the melts as much. Sorry for the confusion.

The moss will eventually turn back green. Just need to be patient and ensure there is sufficient water flow reaching your moss. Got pictures to your setup?
