I am comtemplating a cube tank 80 x 80 x 80 cm (135 USG). Wondering if 1 x 150MH light is enough for the plants? How high should I place the light?
Pls advice, thanks.

I'm back!
was told that the calculation is only meant for FL / PL lights. Not MH.

Yep, 3W/G rule does not apply to MH lights.
To be safe, the MH light should be at least 2 feet away from the water.
Hmmm.. an almost 3 foot cube tank.
A 150W MH will cut thru the tank ht and reach the bottom, no problem. But given the width and length of the tank, I'm not sure if the cone of light can cover the top part of your tank completely. The bottom half should be ok.
Other than that, a 150W MH should be enough light. You just need to scape it to account for the cone of light.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.
Sorry for the interuption, any want knows if a 70W MH Light enough
for a 3ftx 1.5ftx 1.5ft tank. Thinking of buying 1 2 replace my 2x 36W
PL and 1 30W FL coz its to massy with to many wires.
Remember me so that you will not forget me.
