The close up view of the slate is nice
Hello...
After much research and still researching (some of you might know...), I am finally done with my set up like since last week. Been cycling the tank since last Saturday... Today is the first week of cycling, Just added CO2 two days ago... Below are a few photos. Simple set up;
This was what I was inspired by...

My temperature's now 26.3 degrees after fixing up 2 fans! Well... Probably due to the weather as well these few days~ Stay tuned folks!![]()

The soil couldn't be buffering at that high.

Might be.. But the tank now is doing 6.8. Might be decreasing still. Checking again tomorrow. I went to Green Chapter yesterday and when they heard about the soil you passed me, they were confused! They said they never heard anyone doing the mixture before. Haha... Let's see if this experiment works!![]()
By the way, can anyone identify the spiky looking plant under "some close up"? Thanks! I heard that it's difficult to grow underwater. But I bought it anyway. And they are growing longer and faster than the rest!
Bro maybe you want to stick white Oyama at the back of the tank so it's a nice white background.

Hello!
After 3 weeks, below are the updated readings!
Ammonia: 0 ppm
Nitrite: 0 ppm
Nitrate: 5 ppm
pH: 6.8 (stabilized)
gH: 1 - 2
Temp: 26.2 degrees (maintained by 2 seperate cooling fans)
I have changed the LED light to an old 14W 2x tube I've found in my storeroom. I think the plants are growing better now... CO2 by 2L pressurized tank at 1bps.
Below are some photos updates!
1 week back, I added 10 Cherry Shrimps to test water... They're still feeding well and active!

By the way, share some photos of my plants.
They are starting to pearl underneath the surfaces! Now this is some real serious aquascaping here!
The tank after 3 weeks of cycling... Well, not much of a difference. But at least, it is providing well for the 30 shrimps now!Patiently waiting for more growth! If you guys notice the difference between the first few photos in the first post and this, you may see that one of the Cyperus Haspen is growing a shoot upwards... I think one day it may just grow out of the water surface and bloom another set of spiky looking leaves.

Right now, the tank is going at CO2 pressurized inject 1bps. The CO2 indicator is showing that the tank has the right amount of CO2... 2x tube 14W has been used now instead of the previous LED Light. I will switch on the light and CO2 inject at 6 am before I leave for work and switch the CO2 inject off when I come back from work. My theory is, when the CO2 is off, the light will still allow the plants to photosynthesize with the existing CO2 in the tank. Then before I sleep at 12 midnight, I will switch the light off to let the plants and my shrimps rest. So far so good... Allswell!
I will have more shots in the coming future! Stay Tuned! For more photos of my shrimps, do visit under Invertebrates sub forum ~ Sharing my set up (Shrimps).
Thanks!

Keep it up... But monitor your GH.. From your photos, it looks like a lot of rocks, gravels, etc... I am surprised that it can maintain at 1-2dGH... Mine previously maintained at 4-6dGH and suddenly shot up to 14-18dGH (drip GH liquid test until give up.. Hahaha), finally decided to go into full shrimps with no scape..

Hello! Thanks for sharing!
By the way, at roughly which week did you discover the gH increase? Were there littles bubbles streaming out slowly from your rocks or gravel?
Mine's still early to say anything too. But I will definitely monitor the gH. Gonna prevent another heartbreaking moment... I think the water used also contribute to gH, am I right?

About 2 to 3 months for my previous rockscape shrimp tank... There wasnt any bubbles streaming out.. Those rocks were said to be Kurokinryu Rocks (said not to effect GH or PH) but still this happens.. Might have been swapped for Seiryu Rocks by the LFS since buyers normally cannot tell between the two...
My tap water has 3dGH, how much can it contribute to get to 14dGH? I dont think that will do such a big increase for a duration of 2~3 months...

Haha! My rocks were from SeaView and no brand. Die... Well, I may just as well experience the same situation like you! Haha...
True. Then I must really look out for any abnormalities along the way. I am doing a routine of weekly water test... So I can spot any changes in time. Pray~
