What blue jelly are you mentioning about?
There was a variant of KK which is named Blue Jelly due to the color which is light bluish in color which is not a Neocaridina..
Is there a Neocaridina called Blue Jelly as well?
Hello...
Understand from planetinverts that Fire Red, Blue Jelly and Rili belong to the same genus, NeoCaridina. I also understand from planetinverts that you cannot house two NeoCaridina together and they will not interbreed due to the genus.
So, anybody knows how Blue Rilis came about? Can I assume that if I put Blue Jelly shrimps and Rili shrimps together, somehow, through selective breeding, I will obtain Blue Rili shrimps?
Thanks.

Blue rili is probably selective breeding of blue pearls. If you notice, blue pearls have small pigments or red as well. From there they probably pick out some and breed selectively.
Housing normal rilis and blue rilis will give you a chance of getting the 'wild' color.
PS: I also saw LFS selling them as blue jelly, the color is more intense and looks awesome!
Would appreciate everyone to use the correct name of shrimp identity. Or else it would easily mislead those that just joined in this hobby.
For those who are not sure, there are many forums that you can find out. Please don't put one laziness into everyone confusion.
Wish everyone have a enjoyable experience in shrimp keeping.
Of course Sir!![]()
Mind if you would enlighten me about the identity of the shrimp? Because it seems like the LFS are selling it as Blue Jelly Shrimps. It's more of a confusion here right now though only one post has relevantly answered my query. And it seems like from various sources, they call it differently too!
Hope somebody can enlighten us on this!![]()
Shrimpsider is not a forum, but a blog by a very experienced shrimp hobbyist.
There are plenty of blue shrimps in the market now compared to the early days, where the "blue shrimps" are actually brownish, greenish malayan shrimps that sometimes look blue

what is your question? to breed out blue rili?
actually in the market, the red rili sometimes can produce blueish rili in a big spawn. you can selective breed from there onwards. however i think that the blue rili gene is not stable.
if you notice carefully, sometimes in a bag of berried blue pearls/blue rili, you will notice that the shrimplets born are not blue but red.
usually if you interbreed 2 different colours of shrimps, you will get undesirable colours like the wild cherries colour. brownish greyish look
