Where to get malawi/,buna cichlids

Hi bros,

I am very interested in setting up a mbuna tank with the rockwork and stuff. Question:

1. I saw a few LFS labelling groups of blue/white/yellow cichlids as 'African cichlids' So are those mbuna cichlids?

2. Where can I see and get specific species like demanosi and stuff?

3. Anywhere I can purchase those nice looking grey bluish rocks without burning m pocket? Those granite looking kind.

4. How about 3D rock backgrounds? Where can I buy them?

Try aqua empire at pasir Ris farmway 3. They have various species of mbuna cichlids and haps. I have personally surveyed many LFS and I find the cichlids in aqua empire to be healthy looking and they even label the types of cichlids they have. Prices are almost the same as other LFS. In my opinion, the shop somewhat specialises in African cichlids. They have the 3d backgrounds too.

AE has good quality cichilds, but the price tag is very high for some fishes... example a fish at $10-15 AE is selling $60+!

The other way is to beef up your knowledge and identification skills. Then head out hunting at the regular LFS... Should be able to get some Melawi at good price especially at LFS when they don't name their species..
If you want the rare ones then u you have to camp out at the Pros LFS that does Melawi..
AE is a good place... Saw some at QH once a while.. Q+C Aquatic or NKS also good...
Sadly in SG, Melawi or Tanga are not well supported here... So need a little effort to hunt down your fav..

Oh one point, LFS suffer high mortality rate as Melawi are highly aggressive to co-species. Therefore I guess they do mark up quite a bit to factor that..

Another is at OTP pasir Ris farmway 3. not labelled so you have to do a bit of homework to identify which ones. From my experience, demasoni are the more aggressive n territorial ones compared to others like the lemons, red zebras. I had to seperate them from my frontosa cos it kept chasing and biting.
