that is a good idea...though it would be good if we could hv a biological control mechanism built in![]()
Hv considered putting in some pleco but found it quite ugly.

i use an ez link card
is it applicable to acrylic tank...i hv a small 1ft acrylic.
would the hard plastic card cause any scratches?

[quote:61ca2697ac="hpeter"]both the oto and SAE don't seem to be able to clean the glassWall of my tank very effectively but the leaves of the plants are sparkling clean.
Is this usually the case?[/quote:61ca2697ac]
Yes. SAE don't clean tank walls. They eat BBA only.
Snails and Chinese Algae Eaters are also candidates for tank wall cleaning.
One option better than your credit card is a magnetic cleaner. And your hands won't even get wet.
However, the best is still nutrient control.

any scratches will only appear when tank is dry.
when wet, all scratches will 'disappear'.
I use a razor blade. It just 'slice off' the algae film off cleanly. rather than just scrape. worked better for me.
I'm back!

Try not to use a sponge, your glass will get scratched if a piece of gravel gets trapped in between.

Try Zebra snail. Very effective at removing spot algae from glass and hard to reach corners. I think Horn Snail is supposed to do the same thing as well but they are smaller and thus less effective.
Price $0.50 ~ $2.00 each. Try Eco-Culture or Y618.

if zebra snail got no algae to eat will it start to eat plant instead? I encounter probelm with my apple snail. It starts to eat all my plant when there is no aglae

I was told that it doesn't eat plant. So far so good. They have cleared most of the spot algae in my tank especially in the hard to reach corners and behind my moss wall. I have seen it crawling on my Echinodorus and Moss but didn't eat them.
Apples Snail is not recommended for planted tank as the they eat plants.
To keep your apple snail happy, put them in a small tank near a window and you will have lots of algae for them to eat. Use the tank as a holding area for your apple snails.
No, my Zebra snails doesn't eat the plants. The only complain is that their eggs which they like to lay on the glass and driftwood are super hard to remove and they don't seem to hatch also.

You bought 10 ! How big is your tank ? When they run out of algae to eat, they will crawl out of your tank ! Watch out.
I have one in my 2 ft tank. I move the Zebra snail to other tanks once it has done its job![]()

Anyone knows, does the zebra snail eat the green spot algae on leaves?

hi.. i have also bought 3 zebra snails yesterday, but when i put them in the tank, they just hide in their shells and do not work. They have been in their shells for 2 days .Wats wrong? anyway to make them work?
