Anyone using OHF for marine ?

Hope someone can advise me on this.

Anyone using Overhead Filter (like those Mr Aqua OHF) for your Marine Tank ?
Is OHF usable in Marine setup ?
I know sump will be better, but i wonder anyone here has done it before using OHF.

The OHF is a short term solution, not for long term. OHF is also for small 2ft tank maximum, or else you are really pushing the limits of effectivenss of the fileration system. Of course if you can afford a 4ft tank, then you may as well have a proper sump which is much better. So if you are just testing out marine then 2ft with OHF can last you about 2 months before tank crash symdrome will happen.

Bro, i am referring to tank C in my signature.. So is a bigger tank more suitable or just that OHF will not survive long for Marine ?

If am not mistaken, I may have seen some 4ft OHF at Seawview, Seletar Farmway.

But as OHF essentially rely on gravty for the water return, an indequate pump may not have sufficient power to pull enough water to make full use of the whole available media areas of the OHF, depending on the design. But this problem may not exist if the outlet is restricted in size to correctly match the pump's water output.

But in my opinion, whatever type of filter used, it is important to ensure that the water outlet is configured to offer as much surface agitation as possible over a wide area so as to deliver maximum oxygenation to the water column, eg. by using a horizontal spray bar properly directed (laterally) for this purpose.

But my question is whether OHF is suitable to support Marine fauna or FOWLR ?
Or is it only able to sustain for couple of months and then everything will "collapse" as in dead ?!

I may be out of touch with the current marine tank tech, but when i was running my marine tank, i have nothing in the sump. Its more a place for me to run the chiller, skimmer, topup, probe, ca reactor, kalk reactor so that its all nicely hidden.
I remember a some point i was running a 3ft with a hangon skimmer and a OHF. So i believe it can be done, maybe will be unsightly with the eq hanging outside.

Thanks for sharing... i have decided not to touch Marine for now... going for another freshwater... going to do some scaping first before i introduce fishes.
